Summary:

The Patient Access Supervisor will provide leadership and staff development to the patient access and admissions departments.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Patient Access supervisor will have a working knowledge of the receptionist, support specialist, registration specialist, patient access specialist and intake specialist roles and responsibilities and have the ability to fully function in the roles as needed.
  • The Patient Access supervisor will have involvement with managed care companies as needed and coordinate with the utilization review manager or lead.
  • The Patient Access Supervisor will work collaboratively with CTS department to ensure health of the phone system and Cerner workflows
  • The Patient Access Supervisor will have involvement in the interviewing, hiring and onboarding process
  • The Patient Access supervisor will provide leadership, including guidance for profession and line of service, to the Admissions/Patient Access department:
  • Assists in the day to day decision making (i.e. frequent bed status updates from program managers, support census across the system by case finding and routing, assist staff with complicated cases, assist/coordinate financial decisions with the manager of Patient Accounts and Managed Care Manager.
  • Assist with day to day physician issues as needed (i.e. contacting to discuss recommendations or decline cases, contact to review/discuss complex cases, contact medical director regarding physician capacity issues).
  • Involve the Admissions manager with managerial decisions.
  • Have select group of direct reports as designated by Admissions Manager
  • Support Payroll needs by approving PTO, payroll management system time card adjustments and approvals

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of leadership experience is required
  • Knowledge of joint commission documentation and medical records standards.
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Position may require COVID vaccination or medical/religious exemption based on future CMS mandate.
