Patient Services Representative
Job description
Greets, instructs, directs, schedules and gathers insurance information for patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record. Maintains appointment schedules and follows office scheduling policies. Answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate department/person. Transmits patient information and records as necessary for patient care and according to HIPAA policies. Other duties as assigned. Work is performed in a reception area and involves constant contact with patients and their families. At times, work may be stressful and interruptive and involves dealing with sick patients. High school diploma or GED required in addition to at least six months of previous customer service experience.
