Sparta Cancer Center has a full-time career opportunity available for a Patient Services Representative. Will assist a dedicated team in serving the needs of cancer patients. The position requires working efficiently and accurately with compassion to ensure an ideal patient experience. Patient Services Representative will greet patients courteously, register patients for their appointments, make appropriate follow up appointments, answer incoming telephone calls, and enter patient charges. One year experience in outpatient healthcare office and exceptional customer service required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In a professional and friendly manner, answers all incoming telephone calls, takes appropriate messages, and greets patients and their loved ones. Ensures that all patients are registered in a timely manner with appropriate demographic and insurance information entered into the electronic medical record. Obtains necessary medical record and imaging data; files in EMR.

Ensures that the patient’s insurance has been verified and any necessary referrals and/or authorizations are obtained prior to being seen.

Makes appropriate appointments for the patient by carefully reviewing the physician’s instructions and obtains authorizations as needed.

Orders office supplies and maintains patient refreshment station.

Understands insurance terminology and educates patients on insurance challenges; alerts patients to the need for referrals, etc.

Uses good judgment and initiative, communicates effectively and adapts to variations in workloads, assignments and interpersonal situations as needed.

Respects and protects patients’ rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes.

Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers/management and functions as an effective team member.

Sparta Cancer Center in beautiful Sussex County, New Jersey, is part of an established, progressive, multi-site radiation oncology group with locations in NJ, PA, and NY. About one hour from Manhattan.
