TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adult & pediatric burn centers in Florida. With five medical helicopters*, we transport critically injured or ill patients from 23 surrounding counties to receive the advanced care they need. The hospital is home to one of the busiest solid organ transplant centers in the country. Department Profile
The Patient Transport Department strives to practice safe patient treatment and working with a sense of urgency to ensure that all patients at TGH arrive at their destination in a safe and timely manner. The Patient Transport department moves patients from testing areas, surgical suits, and various units in the hospital. In a single day, one transporter can transport over 25 patients and walk over 10,000 steps.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Transport, the Transporter is responsible for the completion of assignments, as received from Transport Tracking System or Dispatcher, for transport of patients and equipment within established departmental time frames and productivity standards, and following departmental operational and safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates positive customer relations, infection control and risk management practices. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Qualifications


Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: At least one year experience in a customer service or hospitality role. Hospital experience preferred. Must be CPR certified.

Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Must possess basic computer proficiency.
