Title: Patient Travel Administrator
Reports to: Patient Travel & Financial Support Manager

Contract type: Specified purpose contract (expected 6 to 8 weeks’ cover)
Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm. Flexibility required
Location: The Society operates a hybrid working model, with a combination of remote and in-person (Dublin office) working
Salary: €31,000

WHO WE ARE
At the Irish Cancer Society, we have a vision that by 2025, 3 out of 4 Irish cancer patients will survive their diagnosis and everyone affected by the disease will have access to world-class treatment, care and support.
Our Volunteer Driver Service operates in 30 hospitals around the country. Our fleet of volunteer drivers provide free lifts to and from chemotherapy appointments for patients struggling with transportation.
In addition, we provide cancer patients with transportation assistance funds through our Travel2Care programme, made available by the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and administered by the Society. This fund is available to patients travelling to the designated cancer care centres, and their satellites, in Ireland.
In this role, you will work with the team to administer the driver service, supporting patients and families to get to and from their hospital treatments.

Through this role, you will make a direct impact in reducing the practical burden of cancer, and will be provided with the training and support that you need to be able to make a positive impact.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your role will be to assist patients and families to support our expanding patient base of 1,200 cancer patients through their treatment by taking patient appointment bookings over the phone, liaising with drivers to ensure bookings are covered, supporting our base of drivers, engaging with hospitals and answering public queries on the support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Handling incoming bookings and allocating drivers.
- Answer all phone queries in relation to service availability.
- Take bookings from current clients and process in a timely manner.
- Direct potential service users to hospital referrers.
- Organise the client’s rotas in relation to various appointments.
- Source a driver for client appointments and confirm details with the driver.
- Ensure clients are informed as early as possible about driver availability.
- Create & maintain volunteer driver’s records and availability.
Administration
- Maintain full data records in Dynamics.
- Ensure any issues that arise are dealt with and/or are escalated as necessary.
- Ensure all aspects of administration comply with Data Protection Policy/Acts.
- Comply with Society complaints procedure, monitor complaints and provide feedback to manager.
- Other duties as requested by the Patient Travel & Financial Support Manager.
WHO YOU ARE
Qualifications and experience
- 1-2 years’ experience working in a fast paced administrative role, with direct patient or client contact. The Society measures experience based on the quality of the experience obtained, rather than in time passed and welcomes applicants at all stages of their career.

- Technology savvy: you will have a high level of proficiency in MS Office suite, and experience of working with CRM systems and databases, as well as using technology to support internal processes.
