Position Description

The Payroll Manager will manage the payroll processing of US and Canada in a fast-paced organization. This role will drive efficiency and process improvement, perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data and audit and approve bi-weekly and weekly payrolls. The Payroll Manager will be the primary escalation point for payroll related inquiries will respond to frequent and urgent requests for information relating to payroll, tax processing and payroll policy matters and requires exceptional attention to detail, problem solving, and excellent customer service support skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately and in a timely manner for biweekly USA, biweekly Canadian, and Weekly Union pay runs in a multi-state, service organization for 1,000+ employees.

  • Process bi-weekly Paylocity payroll for NPSG Global related companies including NPSG Development, Flex Distribution, and Advanced Sports Group.

  • Provide hands-on support for all payroll reconciliations in support of month-end close activities.

  • Works closely with HR and HRIS teams on payroll related issues and initiatives

  • Responsible for all aspects of year-end processing including fringe benefits, accurate W-2’s and any corrected forms

  • Facilitate 401k audits and assist with any Department of Labor requests

  • Lead payroll team creating an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, and innovation

  • Runs regular and adhoc reports, manipulates and interprets complex reporting from Workday or Replicon into Excel.

  • Establish policies and payroll procedures including accurate calculation of wages, company deductions, garnishments, tax withholding, and bonus payments

  • Review work of payroll team members ensuring payroll cycles are processed accurately and completed within required time periods

Experience/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in HR, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance

  • 5+ years of management experience within payroll

  • Workday (HR and Payroll) and Replicon (time keeping) system experience

  • Passion for data interfaces

  • Multistate payroll processing

  • Union payroll processing and monthly reporting

  • Monthly Contractor Controlled Insurance Policy (CCIP) Reporting

  • Experience supporting at least 1.500 hourly associates

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, and meet deadlines in a demanding environment

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new systems

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)

  • Ability to adapt to constant change in a rapidly growing organization

  • Team player who shows initiative; always looking for ways to improve efficiency

  • Proven leader comfortable coaching staff and providing stretch assignments
