Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) is seeking an Agency Driver!

WCAP is a charitable, educational, 501(c)(3) private non-profit organization. It is designed to utilize and mobilize public and private resources to assist low-income Waldo County residents in the alleviation of poverty and address its underlying causes.

Openings are currently available in Lincoln, Knox, Waldo, and Sagadahoc. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Sign on Incentive of $1,000 Available - $200 payable after successful completion of 90 days, $300 payable after successful completion of 6 months and $500 after successful completion of one year.

Drivers (Bus Driver, Van Driver, Car Driver, and Substitute Drivers) are responsible for picking up and discharging passengers according to trip assignments. Responsible for passenger safety and vehicle maintenance.

Safety: Conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, taking vehicle out of service if safety concerns are noticed. Cleans vehicle windows and mirrors daily. Reports criminal and motor vehicle violations immediately. Actively promotes a safe environment for all passengers. Follows all State and Federal laws. Maintains a clean, safe, and professionally vehicle at all times. Records preventive maintenance and ensures it is completed within the required timeframe.

Transportation: Picks up and discharges passengers as assigned. Assists elderly and frail passengers from their doors into the vehicle, ensuring they are secure in their seat, and repeating the process at drop off. Carries any parcels for passengers as needed. Maintains schedule, or reports when running behind. Loads and unloads scooters, wheelchairs, and walking aids as needed.

Administrative: Keeps accurate odometer and time readings on trip manifests, as well as recording and collecting any fees. Reports any suspected abuse or neglect immediately. Submits any recommended changes as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, including operation of a standard computer keyboard; reach with hands and arms and talk, see and hear; bend and reach; lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and have the physical ability to assist passengers in wheelchairs or scooters, as well as those who have difficulty walking. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those the incumbent encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed largely driving a car, van or bus out in the community, in all types of weather conditions. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate. This position is a full-time hourly position that requires a flexible schedule in order to meet client needs. However, evening and week end time may be required to meet program and/or organizational needs. Overtime may also be required to meet program and/or organizational needs and requires prior approval.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION

General Requirements:

• Must have adequate transportation, a valid driver's license and meet WCAP's insurance requirements.
• Must meet WCAP’s background clearance and physical examination requirements.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and on-going random drug-alcohol testing.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

The following experience and skills are considered essential:

• At least one year of prior public transportation experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and write legibly.
• Must be familiar with State and Federal regulations.
• Participate in the following trainings: CPR, First Aid, Passenger Assistance Techniques, Wheel

Chair Lift Operation, Communication, DHHS Child Transport, Securing Child Car Seat, Wheel Chair Tie Down, Defensive Driving, Customer Service, Diversity and Emergency Evacuation

Procedures.

• Must be familiar with Region 5 area.

Education Requirements:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
