Sonas Nursing Home have an exciting opportunity for a Person in Charge to join the team in our Knock, County Mayo, Ireland.

The role: The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating the management of the nursing home, while establishing and maintaining a high standard of residential care. The PIC will also be responsible for the management of all staff in maintaining the standard as set out and Statutory Regulations. (There will be ample support given from our support office team including HR, accounting & quality teams.)

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in building and maintaining relationships and strong communication skills at all levels, the ability to foster excellent teamwork, have demonstrated leadership characteristics and have and good knowledge of HIQA standards. Ideally the successful candidate will have direct management experience in a similar role.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and clinical supervision to all staff thus improving standards and maintaining a high morale amongst the team.
  • Be proactive in promoting and ensuring that the Ethos, Vision and Core Values of Sonas are upheld
  • Establish and maintain a residential setting where residents are supported and valued every day.
  • Be proactive in ensuring that complaints are managed effectively at local level to minimise escalation and maintain high standards of resident satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with residents that are based on respect and equality.
  • Promote, encourage and practice the ethos of person-centered care.

Education & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Third Level Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered with An Bord Altranais and hold an active PIN.
  • Proven clinical competence and passionate about delivering outstanding care to older people
  • 3-years’ experience in a management capacity.
  • 3 years’ experience in the area of nursing of older people within the last 6 years.
  • 6 years post-registration nursing experience.

Desired

  • Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent
  • Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care
