Person Support Workers - Full-Time, Flexible/Part-Time & Relief Posts About St. Margaret’s is a rights-based service, working in partnership with adults with disabilities and their families/significant people in their life, across the greater Dublin/Kildare/Wicklow region. We work with and support each individual to live a meaningful life of their choosing in their own home, at the heart of family, friends and their community. We are also currently working with and supporting people to move to their own home, from a residential service at Ballyfermot, Dublin. The Position We are currently expanding our Support Teams in the greater Dublin area, both in individualised services and at our transitioning residential service at Ballyfermot. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic, creative and energetic Support Workers with a broad range of talent, skills and experience who will work with and support individuals living in their own homes and at the residential service through their move to their own homes, to achieve the good things in life that they choose. The Role The focus of the role will be to work with the individual at home and in their community or working with the individual moving from a residential setting to their own home, supporting them to live a life of their choosing and focussing on what is important to them. The role is to support the individual to become connected and a valued member of their local community, to provide opportunities for new experiences and to assist each person in developing real and meaningful relationships. To do so means being present for and doing with the individual in their everyday life. It is about encouraging their abilities and independence, always ensuring their will and preference is central in their decisions and lifestyle choices, while respecting their dignity in the way their personal care needs and supports are met. Integral to the role requirement is the ability to connect with people and support them live a good life of their choosing and understand the fundamentals of equal rights and citizenship for all. The relationship is one of professional support and meaningful engagement, built on our service ethos of supported self-directed living, working with the individual through our core values of partnership, rights, inclusion and accountability. Role Requirements * Experience : Ideally you will have experience supporting and enabling people to develop their potential which may include -; supporting individuals to become involved in interest groups and community; be good at connecting, involvement and participation and supporting others develop valued social roles; have experience in supporting individuals with communication needs; supporting individuals to build their self-esteem, developing talent and potential, supporting people to gain life experiences, making choices & decisions and achieving their goals; have knowledge / understanding of a rights-based approach in person directed and individualised support approaches (Supported Self-Directed Living). In this regard - You may have worked/be working in a similar way and are looking for a new opportunity You may have experience working with vulnerable or marginalised adults in a range of settings. You may have worked / be working in a residential group setting and wish to work as part of a team flexibly responding to support the lifestyle choice of individuals in their own home or supporting their move from a residential setting to their own home. You may have experience supporting family members, friends or people in your wider neighbourhood and community Your experience may be through community involvement / volunteering as part of a group/team that supported individual engagement that developed a sense of belonging and community involvement and participation. You may be considering starting /returning to employment from supporting family or parenting. You may have always had a passion to work supporting vulnerable people to be enabled and empowered to live as equal citizens within their community. * Qualification Framework If you think you have the passion and commitment to support people in this way and wish to develop a career in Health & Social Care and - You have gained a QQI Level 5 Qualification in Health & Social Care or Have completed 2 modules of your QQI Level 5 or Are currently completing your QQI Level 5 Qualification in Health & Social Care or Are willing to undertake a QQI Level 5 Qualification in Health and Social Care, Note: All successful applicants undertaking/ committing to undertake QQI5 Qualification will be supported by St. Margaret’s to achieve their full Qualification (Terms & Conditions Apply) * Other Attributes : Be able to work on one-to-one with people and as part of a team.
