Job Description

PCA-Full time (Three 12 hour shifts) Night Shift (6p-6:30a) Higher pay for experienced PCA's or CNA's/ Student apprentices

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Under the supervision of designated unit management and the clinical leadership of a clinical nurse, routinely supports the unit through the provision of basic patient care, clerical and reception services.

MINIMAL ACCEPTABLE JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure:

  • None required.

Experience:

  • No specific experience is required. Lutheran will provide a formalized training class; successful completion is required in order to continue employment. Additional orientation specific to unit responsibilities may also be provided.

Education:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent (GED)
  • A minimum of three years of direct patient care experience in a health care facility will be accepted in lieu of education.

Registration/Certification:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days from start date in position. Successful completion of unit required education classes (ie: Intro to EKG, etc.) Must complete within the first 30 days of hire date, as applicable.


JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:


1) Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.


2) Demonstrates a basic understanding of the role of a patient care associate and relationship with other

nursing team members.


3) Requires an understanding of basic EKG rhythms (per area of assignment).


4) Requires organizational skills and basic knowledge of office operations.


5) Requires a basic understanding of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to the age

(including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served in order to support

the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.


6) Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and

maintain positive therapeutic/working relationships with all internal and external customers, as needed.
