Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an experienced Personnel/Recruiting Clerk for our Personnel Department. This position is 100% on site. We are a self-perform heavy civil contractor working in North Carolina. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible after 90 days for benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance and paid time off. Job Duties:

  • Assist the Personnel Department with administrative and clerical support
  • Must be consistent and uphold a high level of confidentiality
  • Coordinating and completing various office services such as emailing, copying, etc. for work areas. Must be efficient in organization of office and field operation paperwork, preparation of office forms and other supplies for both field and office personnel
  • Assist with background checks of all prospective employees
  • Give new employees proper and detailed information about their positions
  • Assists new employees with appropriate paperwork and forms
  • Distribute employee payroll checks and statements
  • Maintain and utilize computer database consisting of employee information
  • Maintain and update digital and hard copies of employee-personnel files
  • Assist Personnel Team with setting up/facilitating quarterly safety meetings and company events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Prior recruiting or hiring experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to use calculators, computers, machines (copy, fax, etc.) and other typical office equipment
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). Ability to read, write and speak both proper English and Spanish fluently
  • One year prior experience in office administration. Candidates with prior administrative experience in the construction industry are preferred
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA
