Position Summary
The Pharmacist in charge, under the general direction of the Pharmacy Business Manager, ensures adherence to Zufall Health’s policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. The Pharmacist in charge assists patients with their health care needs by filling prescriptions, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with supervision of staff pharmacists.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Represents the pharmacy in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication.
• Directly supervises staff pharmacists.
• Indirect supervision of pharmacy technicians.
• Liaison with quality and infection control committees.
• Maintains compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms.
• Maintains schedule II’s inventory, ordering and receiving.
• Supports order verification within computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy.
• Ensures safe work environment, enforcing operational discipline, and monitoring aseptic behaviors.
• Prepares, reviews, and dispenses medication orders by following provider orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibility and advising on interventions.
• Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and nursing staff by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients or overseeing these activities.
• Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
• Ensures the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled.
• Provides excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
• Maintains appropriate security of the pharmacy department.
• Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regiments, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
• Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security and proper disposal.
• Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
• Maintain state pharmacy license(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and assessment skills
• Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cohesively with a team or independently, and build relationships with staff and external partners
• Compliance with all applicable policies and procedures of Zufall Health Center
• Able to relate appropriately to, communicate effectively with and develop positive relationships with diverse client populations and staff.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Completion of college degree leading to RPh or greater.
• Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy with a Pharmacy degree
• Valid NJ State license in Pharmacy
• Maintain required education for licensure.
• Minimum two years’ experience in retail pharmacy
