The Hospitality Institute at Montgomery County Community College is located on the Blue Bell campus. The Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry programs run daily, making amazing treats that end up being wasted. With the support of a Food Sustainability Fellow, our goal is to reduce our environmental and economical waste and feed the campus. Our goal is to research our hunger demographics and disperse the goods in a sustainable and maintainable way. The fellow will commit to a flexible hybrid schedule (day and night shifts, as needed), taking our ServSafe class taught by a Senior Faculty, and participating in our Open House and internal events. To reach our goal of sustainability and decreased food waste at the Hospitality Institute, the fellow will work to educate the campus on our project and create functioning system to provide fresh, healthy, and great tasting food to our population in need. We are passionate about making a positive impact on the planet and our community, so we want you to share the same. With strong critical thinking and leadership skills, alongside professional development opportunities, the right fellow will make a large impact on our lifelong goal towards a sustainable program and less food insecurity.



Member Duties : The overarching goal is to build a sustainable food source for hungry college students, while cutting decreasing waste at the Hospitality Institute. They will do so by researching the college and community demographics. The fellow will create partnerships with internal college programs to assist with research development, such as The Wellness Center and Gateway to College programs. The fellow will also do community outreach about our sustainability project by creating partnerships with community-based programs, like Manna and local Farms. The fellow will research food health & safety guidelines and assist in social networking at every stage of systems- production, processing, retailing, and consumption. The fellow will work alongside the Hospitality Institute faculty to create a sustainable, economical, and social food share experience where we work to eliminate food insecurity on campus for good.
