We are in search of a positive, high energy, motivated individual to fulfill a Physical Security Specialist role and become an integral part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team. The successful candidate will join our team of security professionals. The Security team is chartered with all aspects of security operations – physical security, threat management and investigations, in addition to performing other duties in support of Test Stand 4670 operations. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently, resolve unforeseen situations efficiently, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.
The Physical Security Specialist will coordinate and complete security administrative work, including but not limited to: NASA badge application processing & management; parking pass issuance/management; security camera access requests; serve as the Security liaison to Facilities Operations in support of keys/locks, parking management, gate operations, and campus access requests; aide in developing physical security plans to support all TFO operations; support the Administrative Team with Visitor Management; supporting Company events; planning and executing small projects; and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the convoy security coordinator for all BE-3U and BE-4 engines moving to/from MSFC West Test Area and other locations within the Huntsville footprint.
- Coordinate and facilitate security requirements for long-haul movements of strategic items moving to MSFC West Test Area facilities, to include engines and other vital hardware and components.
- Serve as the primary coordinator for NASA Badges for access to Redstone Arsenal. Prepare forms, review for accuracy, and second party verify all requests for NASA badging. In addition, manage oversight of current NASA badges to include reminders to expiring badge holders, recovery of badges from departing personnel, and interaction with Blue hosts requesting contractor access.
- Attend daily leadership coordination meetings with Blue staff at 4670
- Serve as the primary security liaison with the MSFC Administrative Team. These duties will include assisting with overseeing badge issuance and recovery, VIP visitor assistance, and assistance with access control for both Blue Origin
- Work directly with the Facilities Operations Team to provide support to parking management on the MSFC West Test Area Campus. In addition, support the key & lock program at NASA/MSFC West Test Area and act as the liaison between security and facilities for key, lock, and gate management issues and requirements for NASA key issuance and control.
- Perform routine perimeter checks to ensure MSFC West Test Area perimeter is secure. Note any deficiencies in fence line and gates and make appropriate work order requests in the Maximo system as well as notification to NASA.
- Assist with documentation of Security incidents. This includes any Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) incidents with documentation in Gensuite and Access Commander.
- Provide assistance with management of the contracted Guard Force (NASA Protective Services) to include oversight, implementation, and revising of security duties/patrols.
- As directed, support security operations at Test Stand 4670 and Huntsville Engine Manufacturing (when needed) including blueprint layouts for security systems, security investigations, requests for additional access control, implementation of physical security controls, and Security planning for all TFO testing intervals and cadence.
- Create, draft, edit, and prepare reports, project meeting notes, presentations, spreadsheets, and documents.
- Assist with sourcing, vetting, acquiring, and assessing performance of outside resources necessary for project support as needed.
- Contribute to the TFO program success by providing general operations support and accomplishing related duties on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience· Functional experience in Physical Security – guard force operations, security technology (access control/CCTV/alarms).
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a NASA badge.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Proven self-starter with problem solving skills.
- Ability to flourish in an environment with multiple and shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail, resolution, and follow through skills.
- Applicants should have knowledge of physical security operations.
- Applicants should be familiar with industrial and business safety.
- Proven skills managing subcontractors and vendors successfully.
- Strong competency in all Microsoft office applications.
- Ability to flex schedule and occasionally work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Desired:
- 7+ years of Government, Law Enforcement and/or Corporate Security experience
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings
- ASIS Certification (APP, PSP, CPP).
- Experience with Federal Government Security regulations
