Job description
The successful candidate will join the newly formed Pathfinder team in UHK which is a joint initiative between the Hospital and the National Ambulance Service. This service will see an Advanced Paramedic (AP) and an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physiotherapist (PT) responding to 999/112 calls from low acuity elderly patients who would otherwise present to the Hospital’s Emergency Dept (ED). The OT and PT staff on the Pathfinder team will liaise closely with each other to ensure the patient’s needs are best met by their particular skill set.The Pathfinder team will work as part of a collaborative leadership team in conjunction with all relevant stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be required to be present with an Advanced Paramedic in the emergency response vehicle over the course of the working week. He/she will also be required to be drive independently for follow-up intervention as required.
The post holder, as and when may be required, will receive support from the Physiotherapy staff within the department, UHK. Conversely the post holder may be required to provide support to the other Physiotherapy services, under the umbrella of UHK, as designated by the Physiotherapy Manager.
The Physiotherapists working in Pathfinder will have a close working relationship with the FITT Service in UHK, Kerry ICPOP services, Emergency Department Services in UHK & Older Persons services in Kerry.
