Kelvic is seeking skilled Underground Utility Pipe Layer capable of contributing immediately to an underground utility crew and interested in advancing professionally.

Requirements:

• Hand and foot coordination: You must coordinate movements of your hands and feet in order to aid the installing, positioning, and manipulating piping and handling of materials.
• Operation of Laser Equipment: You'll have to understand and demonstrate an ability to calculate percentages and distances to setup laser and measurement equipment as necessary.
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork: You must be able to coordinate your actions with those of other workers on busy construction sites.
• Troubleshooting: Anyone installing pipe should be able to detect installation problems.
• Critical thinking: Your job will require that you identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions to problems in order to choose the one that is most likely to be successful and cost-effective.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Arrive at the jobsite on time and be ready to begin work at the scheduled time
• If for any reason you will not be at job site as planned contact the Foreman at the job as early as possible, prior to the start of the work shift
• Take responsibility for the proper excavation of trenches and slopes for proper pipe installation including bedding and backfill requirements
• Must be able to have a solid understanding of mathematics for calculating grades and pipe fall
• Assemble or connect pipe and pipe appurtenances using manufacturers approved methods.
• Understand grades and how to install / setup lasers, levels accurate installations.
• Able to perform pressure or vacuum testing for pipe and structures.
• Work with other crew members to assure that a quality job is done.
• Meet work schedules to the best of your ability.
• Make sure your work conforms to the job’s plans, layouts and/or blueprints.
• Notify your foreman immediately of any work-related problems, safety issues, accidents or injuries.
• Follow all safety rules and practices, and wear protective clothing as directed. Have a team approach to safety and keep each other accountable to work safe.
• Secure equipment and tools overnight.
• At the end of each workday make sure your work area is left in a clean and safe manner. Do not allow trash to be left including lunch trash.
• Confirm daily time with your Foreman.
• Perform any other duty or assignment as may be assigned from time to time by the Foreman.
• Maintain a positive attitude, take direction from your Foreman and work effectively with other crew members to get the job done.
• If you are unclear of your responsibilities for the day, ask your Foreman for a clear understanding of the work plan. It is vitally important each team member knows what is expected for the day.
• Make recommendations to your Foreman on how to improve productivity and reduce costs on the job.
