Job Description

The Platform Lead acts as the business owner for the Digital Platform initiative. The initiative is focused on developing the common services and infrastructure required to enable products and solutions across the Rockwell Automation portfolio. Part of the Common Architecture and Technology (CAT) group, this role is responsible for providing the strategic and system-level direction to technology development teams and managing the Feature backlog for the Digital Platform Agile Release Train (ART).

Key responsibilities include the evaluation, definition and execution of system-level requirements and the delivery of common technology assets to Rockwell Automation businesses and partners. This position requires an understanding of the Rockwell Automation portfolio, the automation market, competitive offerings, and customer use cases. This role interacts frequently with architects, product management, engineering, other Rockwell Automation businesses and third-party partners.

Essential Functions:

The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop system-level strategy for the Digital Platform to support the Rockwell Automation portfolio.
  • Act as the champion for the overall Digital Platform initiative with other Rockwell Automation businesses. Must be willing to work across boundaries to understand requirements, educate businesses and promote the vision for the initiative.
  • Gather use cases and requirements for digital platform services from Rockwell business units and partners.
  • Collaborate with other Rockwell businesses on the productization and deployment of Digital Platform services.
  • Maintain alignment with other subject matter experts across Rockwell Automation.
  • Perform evaluations of internal and external technologies to ensure world-class technology development and utilization via various benchmarking activities and create innovative ways to address customer problems.
  • Attend technical symposiums and exhibits on industrial control systems to expand knowledge on available and competitive technology.
  • Act as a champion to obtain and maintain compliance with all applicable industrial standards across CAT technologies and toolkits.

Essential SAFe Role Responsibilities and Ownership

  • In collaboration with System Architects, Business Owners, Product Owners, and Teams, provides primary authorship owner of Features for the Digital Platform ART in an ongoing and sustainable way.
  • Ensures maximum business value for the ART is achieved throughout the lifecycle of the platform by driving prioritization methodologies for Features.
  • In collaboration with ART leadership, develops the Feature roadmap through successive refinement towards Feature readiness criteria.
  • Works to sustainably provide Feature prioritization reflective of the Feature roadmap and overall Platform goals.
  • Communicates the Platform vision and roadmap across the ART and the organization.
  • Primary owner of the Feature backlog, uses Jira Align to create, maintain, and conduct Feature backlog refinement sessions.
  • Collaborates with Product Owners to ensure quality, integrity, and priorities of Features are represented in Team assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field or equivalent
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Ability to travel on occasion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience and demonstrated knowledge of industrial automation applications
  • Product management experience
  • Experience with industrial automation software
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and ability to collaborate across various functions and business units to achieve common objectives
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • The Base salary compensation range for this role is Total Base Pay Range
    147,040.00 - 220,560.00 Annual, with an annual target bonus of 8% of base salary. Out company benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education and experience
