Position Summary:

Responsible for the proper functioning of piped systems to include natural gas, medical gases, vacuum, heating, steam (traps and piping), valves, controls, piping, outside utilities on premises (sewer and storm drains, gas, water), water distillers, pumps, hot and cold water, tanks, drains, water booster systems and fire protection.

Responsibilities:
  • Repairs, adjusts, or replaces the entire plumbing systems to include waste-vent water piping and the various fixtures and equipment served by these systems in compliance with state plumbing code.

  • Plans, installs and services plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls used to transport water, waste or gases.

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures. Installs supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures and equipment. Assembles and installs valves, controls and fittings.

  • Reviews drawings, plans and specifications to determine system layout for repair or modification.

  • Collaborates with outside utilities and vendors on premises.

  • Responds to emergency calls.

  • Works independently from work orders or verbal instructions and prioritizes work based on type and circumstance.

  • Works with inspectors from the water and/or sewer department, fire department and plumbing inspectors.

  • Performs visual inspections for the detection of abnormal operation and correction of deficiencies.

  • Maintains inventory and orders stock.

  • Identifies required tools and special equipment.

  • Installs various fixtures in new work and remodeling projects.

  • Coordinates shutdown of various plumbing systems as necessary.

  • Supervises trades assigned to help with plumbing projects.

  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.

Experience

Five (5) years’ experience as a plumber. Three years of experience is required if a trade or vocational school graduate.
