Role Information
The role is within Retail Underwriting in Allianz Ireland, reporting to the Portfolio Steering Manager. The role is hybrid working with team members currently attending the office at Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4 on one day per week.
Job Purpose/Role
The purpose of the role is to ensure that Retail business is managed effectively at portfolio level to support growth whilst protecting profitability. The successful applicant will use and improve available management information to analyse the performance of the Retail lines and to propose, plan and implement changes that have a positive effect on portfolio performance. The role offers an opportunity to interact with senior management of the company and to input at decision making forums.
To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of data analytics. You will have the ability to interpret and analyse data to implement solutions that deliver profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved in the following key areas:
- Monitor portfolio performance and in collaboration with Underwriting Pricing, Technical Product, Customer and Market Management, develop and implement solutions that will improve company results
- Make recommendations to management on changes required to improve portfolio
- Make best use of available and emerging datasets to develop innovative underwriting and pricing approaches
- Identify emerging issues within the portfolio and across the wider market
- Collaborate with the relevant underwriting managers, sharing knowledge and developing innovative solutions to complex problems
- Support organisational wide strategic projects with technical knowledge
- Identify creative solutions to problems and improving quality and efficiency within the team
- Additional business projects and ad hoc work as required
- Collaborate on the composition and presentation of monthly reports across all aspects of portfolio performance
Key Requirements, Skills and Experience
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
- CIP, ACII or FCII qualified or equivalent
- A minimum of 36 months experience in the insurance industry dealing with Motor and/or Home lines of business.
- Proven analytical, design, interpretation and reporting skills
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- A relevant third level or professional qualification
- Experience of Retail Insurance
- Experience in communication to, and leadership of, people or teams
- Experience of having been part of a project team in implementing business initiatives
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel OR with SQL, VBA or Python

This role is subject to Minimum Competency Code (“MCC”) as provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland. A recognised insurance qualification may be required for this position. This role is also subject to the Fitness & Probity Regime as provided for by the Central
