Department: Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Centre of Research Excellence
Tenure: 1 year fixed term
Location: 123 St Stephens Green
Reporting to: Executive Dean or nominee
The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery was established in 1974. It has a strategic focus on the continuing professional development, lifelong learning and maintaining competence agendas for nurses and midwives. It has launched a European Centre of Excellence for Research into Continuing Professional Development in collaboration with stakeholders in over 22 European Countries.
The Centre’s primary objective is to fostering knowledge exchange and develop a joint research agenda – by coordinating efforts to develop an understanding of the impact of current CPD activities on patient health outcomes and patient safety.
- To develop a common understanding of what CPD means at a European level and contribute to the development of future standards for CPD.
- Advance our understanding of the economic impact of CPD to inform the development of effective sustainable and cost-effective CPD activities that impact patient safety and healthcare outcomes.
- Act as a platform to facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement
- Enable access to a global network of researchers, clinicians and advocacy groups in the field of CPD
Specific duties:
- Strengthening the Nursing/Midwifery research agenda in the Centre
- Supporting the work of the Research Centre
- Collaborating on writing for publications
- Writing research ethics submissions
- Drafting research proposal
- Supporting grant applications
- Perform literature reviews.
- Conduct research and summarize findings.
- Prepare abstracts for presentation at national and international conferences.
- Organize and attend project meetings.
- Prepare progress reports.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Candidate must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife in Ireland (NMBI)
- A Master’s degree in nursing/midwifery or a related health/education field
- PhD or Doctorate degree.
