Criminal History: Conviction of any felony or any crime involving moral turpitude (crimes contrary to justice, honesty, or good morals). Conviction of any Class 1 or Class 2 misdemeanor, excluding traffic violations which are discussed separately, or the Virginia State Law equivalent within the last 5 years.
Traffic Violations: Any conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to take blood or breath test, eluding police, racing, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 5 years.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: High school or GED plus one (1) year of clerical experience in a field which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work rotating shifts (days/evenings/midnights) including weekends and holidays and be available to work overtime when required to meet operational needs. Must be able to work rotating precinct assignments. In addition to the regular rotation of shift and precinct assignments, additional changes may be necessary to meet coverage requirements and operational needs. Every effort will be made to provide reasonable notice of these changes. This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employees supervisor based on position assigned. Positions within this class have been designated as Alpha I positions requiring employees to work during inclement weather, regardless of the Citys operational status.

In addition to the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate for this position will have experience listed in the preferences below. Candidates with the preferred experience should ensure that this specific information is provided in the application.
Experience with police records management systems; familiarity with criminal codes
VCIN certification and/or experience with police records management systems
Experience working with individuals in emotionally charged situations
Experience processing prisoners
Must be able to function effectively during periods of high work volume
Customer service experience

Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Caroline DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.
Must have U.S. citizenship or ten-year residency as a prerequisite for DCJS certification.
Successful completion of a police background investigation, including polygraph exam.
