Jostens Southtown Refinery in Owatonna is hiring a PRECIOUS METALS REFINERY ADMINISTRATOR!
The
Precious Metals Refinery Administrator receives and audits incoming precious metals; plans the availability of metals for alloy and load for Melt, Refinery, and Assay Lab areas, and coordinates alloy orders for shipment. The incumbent proportions metals for batching. You will be responsible for precious and non-precious metals inventory and for various related backup and security duties.
Responsibilities:
- Weigh, measure and check materials, supplies, and equipment to keep relevant records for alloy fabrication and refinery scrap formulations. This includes other related duties associated with keeping accurate data for the Material Crib.
- Coordinate the flow of work and materials within or between departments of the Melt, Alloy, Refinery, and Assay Lab areas according to production schedule. This includes reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with Area Supervisor, and customers (production plants) to determine progress of work and completion dates, and compiling reports on progress of work and inventory levels.
- Backup Assay Lab Technician when crucial backup is needed; backup facility key holder; backup security responder; back up in the event of alarm to open building for police dispatch; inner vault opener; possible backup Production Lead in the absence of the Area Supervisor and Production Lead.
- Work with Plant Accountant to maintain accurate ledgers and material control books. Assist in ordering and receive all precious and non-precious metals for alloys.
- Work within the departments to order all safety equipment and production supplies for melt, refinery, and lab; maintain their inventory logs.
Required:
- High school graduate or GED
- Specialized precious metals experience including the use of precision weighing equipment.
- Material control experience
- Basic knowledge of hazardous chemical elements and reactions
- Ability to lift to 35 pounds
- Working level proficiency with scales, MS Office suite, MS Access, and Oracle mainframe software for material control
- Ability to work with UPS and Fed-ex shipping (domestic and international) including preparation of proper Customs documentation, along with tracking down shipments to the other facilities
- Good Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
