BLOCK BY BLOCK CA is currently seeking to hire a Pressure Washer / Machine Operator who can operate our Tennant ATLV.

Our ATLV Operator is expected to provide a high level of visibility on the street to carry out a wide variety of tasks that improve the overall appearance of the downtown district they are assigned to. Tasks assigned will include but are not limited to:

Operating various equipment from Tennant ATLV, Pressure Washer, K and others as well. This position requires you to be able to remove leaves/trash, and clean sidewalks for pedestrian use. Our Machine Operators clean and sanitize the filth, remove graffiti and grime from the sidewalks, and make it a more enjoyable place to live, work and play. Will need to complete a route of the district on a daily basis along with other side projects that will need to be completed in a timely manner. Perform daily inspection of equipment before and after use. Report any issues or damages.

Other landscape enhancing activities such as weeding and spraying off containers where flowers are planted and public litter cans where garbage is stored. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail and keep their eyes on safety and cleanliness. We are working on and around open city streets so safety is an absolute must.

Other Essential Functions:

OBSERVE AND REPORT– While on shift you will need to be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to Safety Ambassadors/Supervisors via two-way radios. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers.

HOSPITALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE – While on shift you will need to actively acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting or identify visitors in order to provide directions, information, city information or recommendations.

REPORTING – Must be able to provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti on private property, and provide a basic daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed. This position is akin to a “Special Projects” position so we need people that can keep track of work orders and ensure that any broken handrails or important public safety hazards are documented and reported.

PROFESSIONALISM – Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism. Our reputation is at stake, so we need people that are emotionally mature with a great work ethic.

Physical Requirements Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighting 60 to 100 lbs. Frequently bends, kneels and crouches. Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, sweeping, moping and pushing/lifting. Must be able to a drive vehicle. Continuous traversing and moving about. Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, odors, dirt and dust.
