Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive alcohol and drug prevention program, utilizing in part a proven science based curriculum. Personally provide prevention activities and coordinate the efforts of others. Maintain the appropriate paperwork to effectively document the activities provided and transmit monthly reports to the Department of Mental Health. Receives minimal supervision from Department Head and moderate programmatic supervision from the Assistant Director. Has considerable contact with individuals outside the organization. Attend all training and supervisory sessions.
Responsibilities and Duties: (Any one (1) position of this class may not include all duties listed, nor do listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class).
Develop, coordinate and provide community prevention activities.
Provides consultation and education services to outside agencies, contractors, the community, and courts as requested or needed
Networks with agencies locally and around the state to establish referral sources.
Coordinate work of programs in area of responsibility with the agency and with other mental health facilities.
Attends all DMH training and other supervisory sessions.
Oversees daily operations in area of responsibility to ensure quality of services to individuals.
Prepares reports, letters, speeches and presentations.
Attends business and social events, board meetings, and community service functions.
Serve on boards and committees as needed and appropriate.
Complete daily scheduler of activities.
Keep an ongoing portfolio of prevention activities for accountability and P.R. purposes.
Maintain a monthly/six month itinerary.
Report monthly prevention activities via Sure-Tool to DMH by the 10th of each month.
Provide clinical back up to other departments or programs in case of emergency or if coverage is needed.
Implement at least one science-based curricula.
Maintain the competency in the operation of office equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
Must have only a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field or related field and be licensed eligible by their licensing body or the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
