Role Overview:

Beehive Industries is searching for a qualified candidate to fill an open position for a Principal Machinist. This position is intended for a self-driven professional looking to expand their abilities to include machining consumable goods for the DMLS process as well as metal 3D printed components.

Responsibilities:

• Setup and run CNC vertical machining centers and CMM equipment

• Develop machining fixtures for complex aerospace components

• Program CNC equipment on-line and off-line

• Quote machining work for internal and external customers

• Maintain accurate and legible records of production work and results

• Uphold a high degree of a work-area cleanliness (daily and weekly) and organization

• Explore opportunities to add value to the organization

• Develop work instructions and document progress Identify, initiate, and install new manufacturing processes which improve the department

• Perform preventative and proactive maintenance on various shop equipment

• Updates job knowledge by reading technical publications

• Oversee and monitor daily machine shop operations within Advanced Manufacturing

• Lead and mentor a team of CNC Machinists and assist machinists with questions to continue individual growth

• Participate in plant staffing activities including interviewing and selection

• Understand and identify EH&S hazards, risks and controls of the machine shop operations and activities at the site

• Ensure full compliance with EHS and Quality requirements

• Assist with short term and midterm planning to create initiatives that further Beehive Industries’ goals

• Assist machinists with questions to continue individual growth

• Allocate tooling to be ordered for jobs

Requirements:

• 7+ years of CNC machining experience in turbo machinery components

• 2+ years of experience mentoring, training, and guiding new team members

• Experience machining castings, forging or 3D printed hardware an asset using 5 axis CNC, and EDM machines

• Excellent ability to develop, enable, and empower team members

• High School Diploma

• Experience in SolidCAM, MasterCam or PowerMill an asset

• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and Microsoft Office (2 years programming experience)

• Strong technical skills in GD&T & blueprints

• Strong experience with turning/lathes

• Some experience working with Heat Resistant Super Alloys (Nickel Alloys)

• Experience with OKUMA and Makino multi axis CNC equipment preferred

• Excellent problem solving, organizational, communication and teamwork skills

• Exposure to working within a facility quality systems and codes (ex. ISO 9001, AS9100)
