Job description
The Principal Psychologist Specialist will further develop an evidence-based psychology service within the Psycho-oncology Team in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH), comprising of Psychology, Social Work, Nursing and Psychiatry. This role will offer principal specialist level of psychological care for patients as well as supervision of senior staff and trainees.The role of psychology is to support patients with psychological need as per the psycho-oncology model of care. The Principal Psychologist will develop the service for cancer patients co-ordinating assessment, formulation and interventions at both inpatient and outpatient level. The Principal Specialist role will carry out management duties as delegated by the Principal Manager and will help develop this service in line with MMUH Strategy with a view to continuous quality improvement. The Psychologist will be based in the Dept. of Psychology which sits in the Health and Social Care Directorate within the hospital and will report to the Principal Psychologist, Head of Dept.
