Principal Scientist – Discovery Toxicology
The Non-clinical Drug Safety (NDS) Strategies Group within the NDS Department in Ridgefield, CT, is currently recruiting a Toxicologist to support Drug Discovery Project Teams across all therapeutic areas and modalities, with a focus on biologics, viral and gene therapies, as well as some small molecule projects. Responsibilities include serving as a representative for NDS on Discovery Research Project Teams and ensuring seamless transition of project knowledge to the Development Project Team Toxicologist and other groups within NDS at the appropriate stage.
The Discovery Toxicologist will work in close alignment and collaboration with our NDS Therapeutic Area Leads to provide safety strategies for novel therapeutics, coordinate NDS activities supporting project progression and decision making, and assist with the management of toxicology data for use in presentations.

Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as representative for NDS on Discovery Research Project Teams In close partnership with the NDS Therapeutic Area Lead and Development Project Team Toxicologists, provide expert input, guidance, and strategy on project safety assessments, with a specific focus on early discovery projects Act as a key resource for early safety assessment during the drug discovery phase, providing specific knowledge and expertise to cross-functional project teams and communicating with clarity the predicted toxicological implications of new targets/therapeutic concepts In collaboration with our Integrative Toxicology and Molecular Pathology teams and Subject Matter Experts, develop and implement strategies to predict, assess, and mitigate target-related safety risk and mechanistic understanding of safety issues in support of the drug discovery portfolio. Contribute to departmental administration Demonstrate fiscal responsibility with respect to cost of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel
Requirements:
PhD in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or related scientific fields with 3+ years related experience following postdoctoral training, or relevant MS degree and at least 10+ years related experience Experience in drug discovery and development, including preclinical models (in vitro and in vivo) and biomarkers Working knowledge of drug discovery stages and solid understanding of appropriate safety stages Excellent knowledge in the field of data science, toxicology, and biologics Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an interdisciplinary environment Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations Previous experience working in a matrix environment highly preferred

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
