Job Summary

The Private Client Banker Associate RI is a foundational role designed to prepare you to play with confidence and obtain the necessary licenses, training, skills, and behaviors to become a successful Private Client Banker (PCB). At this stage, as a returning Intern you'll earn the required licenses, start building relationships that can shape your career, and be exposed to the products, platforms and tools you need to serve clients and play with confidence. The full responsibility while in role is to study and test for successful licensing of the 6, 63 and state insurance. After successfully achieving licenses, the PCB Associate will be placed into the Private Client Banker (PCB) role. KeyBank will cover all expenses for your study and examination materials. As a PCB, you will deliver and refer appropriate financial solutions to KeyBank's client base with up to $2M in investable assets. The PCB is responsible for helping new and existing clients achieve confidence in their financial wellness by assessing their financial needs, gathering, and documenting client data, and offering appropriate products and services. PCBs identify products and services to meet client needs and refer to appropriate sales professionals in Retail, Key Investment Services, Private Bank, Mortgage or Business Banking. Responsibilities

Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients; Delivers on client solutions through referring of investment and insurance products

Builds a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence; Employs a disciplined approach to prospecting; documents calling efforts.
Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of private client products and services, as well as knowledge of competitive products and services to ensure meaningful in-depth financial wellness conversations with clients
Opening personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
Developing strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners – focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship of current clients; effectively managing internal and external centers of influence.
Ensuring compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
Support of branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
Participate in and occasionally facilitate morning huddles and end of day debriefs- Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma , GED, or equivalent experience (required) or
Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals and building referral sources in insurance and investment products. (required)
Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking. (required)
Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objection, and asking fact-finding questions with the goal of being helpful. (preferred)
Interpersonal interaction skills and an ability to build rapport in matter of minutes is vital. (required)
Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, as this role will require significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals. (required)
Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.). (required)
Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key. (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- FINRA License S6 Within 6 weeks of completing retail academy/training (required)
FINRA License S63 Within 3 weeks of starting structured remote curriculum outside of branch (and after passing SIE) (required)
FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE) Within 2 weeks of obtaining S6 (required)- Life and Health Insurance Licenses Within 3 weeks of obtaining S63 (required)
Mortgage Loan Officer/Loan Officer (MLO/LO) Classification
Employees in this position are required to comply with all rules and regulations of The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (The SAFE Act). Employees hired or transferring into this position will need to meet the qualification requirements, in Key's sole discretion, under Reg. Z, prior to acting as a loan originator in a consumer credit transaction secured by a dwelling. Qualification requirements include but are not limited to an assessment of overall financial responsibility, character, and general fitness through review of a criminal background check, credit report, and information about any administrative, civil, or criminal findings by any government jurisdiction.

Physical Demands
- Consumer Retail - Prolonged Standing (5-8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1 – 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
Driving Requirements
- Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.
