The Medical Council is recruiting for a Procurement Executive (Executive Officer Grade) with responsibility for supporting all aspects of the procurement of goods and services in line with organisational level policies and public procurement legislation. The role sits within the Corporate Services & Planning Directorate. The role reports to the Head of Purchasing and Procurement.
This is a new role within the organisation and is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and assertive individual to join a newly established, dynamic team in an evolving organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the procurement contracts database
- Manage all logs and actions related to procurement activity
- Create purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Maintain and update purchase order systems, e-tendering systems, Office of Government Procurement systems and relevant documentation
- Follow with suppliers on invoicing queries, contracts, purchase orders and the delivery of goods and services
- Apply purchasing policies to resolve a variety of issues
- Manage and escalate issues between the organisation and suppliers
- Support the Head of Purchasing and Procurement, and senior managers, in completing tender documentation
- Train staff across the Medical Council in procurement policies, procedures and practices
- Support the Head of Purchasing and Procurement in driving continuous improvements in procurement while supporting day-to-day operations
- Other duties in supporting a developing procurement function
Essential Criteria:
- At least 1 year experience in a procurement (or related field) role is required
- A minimum qualification requirement is that the applicant holds a Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational training qualification.
- Good computer skills, administration experience and professional experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Criteria:
- Keen interest in procurement
- Experience with purchasing systems an advantage
- Third level qualification

Details of this Appointment:
Position Type: This appointment will be offered on a full-time permanent basis. A 6-Month probationary period applies to this appointment.
Salary: Starting salary will be at €32,649, which is the first point of the Executive Officer PayScale.
If you are currently a serving civil or public servant, your entry point to the PayScale may be higher based on your current salary.
There will be salary increment each year in line with the Executive Officer Grade PayScale and subject to satisfactory performance, until the maximum point on the scale has been reached. The rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.

€52,808¹ (LS1 After 3 years satisfactory service at the maximum)
€54,481² (LS2 After 6 years satisfactory service at the maximum)
Annual Leave: 23 working days plus public holidays
Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri.
Location: While The Medical Council's offices are located at Kingram House, Kingram Place, Dublin 2, they are temporarily re-located to Europa House, Harcourt St, Dublin 2. We operate a hybrid working model with both remote working and requirement for on-site attendance one day per week.
Pension: The Medical Council offers a pension through the Public Sector Scheme. Contributions to the scheme will commence on joining the organisation. Candidates currently working in the Public or Civil Service may transfer their pension.
