Optimize Recruitment are partnering with a client in South Tipperary to recruit a Product Development Technologist on a full time, permanent basis.
The main responsibility is to develop new products to a high standard and to customer, third party standards and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Technical/NPD Manager.

Some of the responsibilities include:
- Develop products from start to finish including bench work, taste panelling, customer presentation and carrying out trials etc.
- Recipe development working with the customer and supplier base.
- Complete customer/ finished product specifications to a high standard with a right first-time policy.
- Sign off artwork for packaging ensuring adherence to all relevant labelling legislation.
- Make samples for internal and external presentations, nutritional analysis, and reference samples for trial/launch.
- Ensure ingredient stocks are kept high and collect raw materials from the plant weekly.
- Maintain documents related to the new product development process.
- Work with and engage with others to strive towards best practice, via support, challenge, and development, to positively affect the overall performance.
- Liaise with sales managers for project updates.
- Keep up to date with culinary, dietary, and new processing trends.
- Organise benchmark panels.
- Any other duties as required.
Requirements for the role include:
- Third level degree in Home Economics, Food Science or related discipline is essential.
- 1+ years’ experience in a New Product Development environment within the beverage sector would be a distinct advantage.
- Proven track record of taking projects from start to finish.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of product costings.
- Culinary knowledge and passion for food.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
