Job Purpose
The Product Lead, Future of Electric for Customers, will develop and deliver new clean energy products, programs, and offerings that create value for customers and the grid.
Helping our customers move to clean energy sources is one of the pillars of our decarbonization strategy as we strive toward a clean, fair, and affordable energy future. This new, innovative team has been stood up to work with several groups within the Customer Organization and the rest of the business to understand and define what the future would look like as we move to a world where:

Customers accelerate adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs)

Customers have vastly improved data and insights into their energy use via smart meters

National Grid plays the role of the Distribution System Operator (DSO)
The Product Lead will be responsible for crafting and executing on that future customer vision, as well as product and program development activities from conception through design, business case development, go-to-market strategy, regulatory approval, and ongoing management.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct research and customer interviews to identify pain points and market failures around customer adoption of clean energy resources (e.g., solar, storage, smart thermostats, and other smart home technology)
- Generate new product concepts that create additional customer value and validate these concepts with customers
- Develop compelling business cases and present to senior leadership to secure support to move forward with product concepts
- Work with internal Strategy, Grid Planning and Operations teams to understand grid needs and identify opportunities for customer-owned energy resources to provide value to the grid
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine product requirements, costs, and implementation timelines
- Engage with external partners including state regulatory bodies in NY and MA, as well as industry partners such as installers, aggregators,
- Identify key performance indicators of product success
- Identify cost recovery or pricing strategy
- Develop regulatory filing and secure regulatory approval
- Work with internal stakeholders to launch and manage the product, and, when appropriate, transition the product to another team within the organization

Qualifications
- BA in business-related field or BS in engineering or economics
- Experience identifying and synthesizing customer problems
- Experience working with subject-matter experts to develop innovative solutions to customer problems
- Experience building consensus across diverse groups of stakeholders
- Experience developing financial forecasts, benefit-cost analyses and business models
- Experience gathering support for new initiatives among senior leaders and external stakeholders
- Passion, interest and entrepreneurial spirit to make things happen on the cutting edge of the energy industry
- Knowledge of the clean energy industry, utility operations, and energy regulation is preferred

Salary
$128,000 - $151,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
