About the role
Primarily responsible for managing all production systems for the plant. Lead and provide direction to plant Supervisors, monitoring the hourly/production employees safety, training and development. Work with Supervisors to develop achievable targets and production demands.
Key responsibilities
- Receive daily production requirements and evaluate delivery times to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Monitor production progress through the day to ensure timeframes are met and forecast information to Supervisors
- Maintain departmental budget and monitor spending in accordance with company direction and needs
- Establish objectives for the production floor and formulate and approve policies and programs
- Oversee, maintain and make improvements to the process flow of the manufacturing departments with the contribution from the production employees
- Maintain a current understanding of the latest trends in technology, equipment and progress of the industry and make any recommendations on improvements to these areas to the Plant Manager
- Report all safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
- Monitor Supervisors and provide mentoring, guidance and improvement recommendations for the benefit of the individual as well as the organization as a whole
- Contribute to the approval of overall strategic planning of staff requirements involving recruitment and termination of employees
- Enforce and support a health and safety program and procedures to ensure the safety of team members as well as all visitors and customers on the production floor
- Participate with employees in continuous improvement projects and support employees’ suggestions
- Training and Development of production department
Qualifications and skills
- 4 year College/University degree is required
- At least Five years of experience within the Food Industry in a manufacturing environment at a supervisory or management level is preferred
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Continuous improvement understanding.
- Thorough understanding of unit of operations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology.
