Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Engineering Career Services Office, www.CareerEngr.umd.edu, assists all engineering students and employers in finding or filling internships, co-op jobs, and entry-level positions. We offer comprehensive career development opportunities for our students and a wide-range of recruitment programs for our employers.

This position exists to ensure a quality experience for students seeking to connect with employers and make career decisions that align with their goals. This role will include advising students on resumes/cover letters, performing mock interviews, assisting with internship course registration, presenting workshops, providing outreach to student groups, career event assistance, designing handouts, and doing social media posts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in any major. (No engineering experience necessary.)
  • 2 years of work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and counseling/advising skills with the ability to work with a variety of constituents.
  • Excellent communication skills including group presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Preferences:
  • Experience in higher education setting, recruiting, or human resources is preferred.
  • Experience with career services management software. (e.g., CRM systems, Symplicity, Handshake) is ideal.
  • Experience working with graduate and/or international students in addition to undergraduates is a plus.
