Position Highlights
At the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within the University of Arizona Health Sciences, we lead initiatives, community outreach and recruitment to expand the pipeline of diversity and inclusion efforts for students, residents, faculty and staff. This position will perform investigatory research or evaluations to identify appropriate services. Liaison between UAHS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) programs and events, research programs and services and the community. Collects data to assist in evaluating program and services and identify needs for additional programs or services. Plans, organizes, and coordinates program schedule and logistics, including making room reservations, scheduling speakers, coordinating MCAT and GRE workshops, coordinating with faculty mentors, ordering program supplies, assisting students in preparing posters and research presentations, planning and implementing opening and closing events, other Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) events, and other tasks as needed. Develops communications materials to promote programs and events in communities with Director and Executive Director guidance. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating and tracking the 10-week program and participants.
  • Manage program application process, including opening the online application, disseminating information, answering applicant questions, and assisting with applicant review and final selection.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement research facility training, hands-on activities (ASTEC lab, anatomy lab, etc.), and transportation and tour logistics for participants.
  • Prepare and organize budgets and reports. Collect summer internship participant data and maintain documentation on the progress of activities.
  • Communication, collaboration, negotiating service-learning agreements with partners including AzAHEC Regional Centers, ad placement. In coordination with summer program Director & UAHS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Executive Director: plan, organize and coordinate program schedule and logistics, including making room reservations, scheduling speakers, coordinating MCAT and GRE workshops, coordinating with faculty mentors, ordering program supplies, assisting students in preparing posters and research presentations, planning and implementing opening and closing events, other Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) events, and other tasks as needed.
  • Outreach, Recruitment & Selection. Design, disseminate and present, promotional materials about the program and other Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) programs. Serves as liaison between health profession school applicants, UA Pre-Health Professions Advising, UAHS Student Services and COM Admissions as appropriate, to coordinate academic guidance, learning support services and engagement with the health profession schools application process.
  • Work in close collaboration with UAHS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and UAHS Partners to conduct applicant preparation workshops and activities (AZ Applicant Academy, MMI Workshop, AAIP-PAW, etc.) and to participate in recruitment events (health professions fairs, Second Look, etc.) and other EDI events and programming.
  • Provides programmatic support for other UAHS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) events, workshops, and programs.
  • Performs outreach and recruitment for summer program and other UAHS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) programs.
  • Delivers polished and professional presentations. Coordinate and implement outreach and recruitment for cultural diversity events, educational activities and programs related to the health professions pathway and medical career education.
  • May supervise student worker(s).
  • Other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • May be required to work weekends, evenings, and early mornings as needed.
