Organizational History and Background Description:

Established in 1992, Hispanic Services Council’s mission is to increase access and opportunities for Latinos and influence the systems that serve them. HSC is a private, non-profit organization whose work focuses on developing opportunities that result in an educated, healthy, prosperous, and engaged Latino community. To achieve our mission and purpose, our programs focus on increasing the academic performance of Latino children through parental involvement, improving the health outcomes of Latino families, and improving the quality of life through civic engagement of Latinos at all levels in our community.

Position

The Program Director will provide strategic direction for the development and growth of the Bridges to Health (BTH) Program. This program seeks to advance health equity for the Latino population by promoting healthy behaviors, access to healthcare, and addressing the social determinants of health utilizing Promotoras/Community Health Workers. A Promotora is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of the community and serves as a liaison between health/social services and the community. The Program Director will establish and maintain partnerships to build and elevate the role of Promotoras in Hillsborough County to influence healthy living and wellbeing for marginalized communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Program strategy

§ Provide strategic planning and on-the-ground support to the Project Administrative Coordinator to help execute the day-to-day activities of health projects, services, and promotions.

§ Ensures program standards and best practices are implemented and followed.

§ Manage and monitor the performance of multiple BTH projects and grants.

§ Coordinate and facilitate the certification of Promotoras through the Florida Certification Board.

§ Establish and maintain relationships and formal agreements with community partners/ organizations as well as internal program leads.

§ Coordinate site visits to evaluate BTHprogram effectiveness.

§ Represent HSC at local, state and national meetings or conferences.

§ Promote and present HSC programs and services to local funders, organizations, and employers.

· Staff supervision and oversight

§ Provide direction to the Project Administrative Coordinator and the team of Promotoras to ensure their contributions are meeting the outcomes of various projects.

§ Ensure all areas of the BTH program are appropriately staffed to meet the operational needs.

§ Recruit, interview, and coordinate hiring process of staff for the Promotora program.

§ Provide bi-lingual orientation, training, continuing education, mentoring, and evaluations as appropriate to Promotoras and program staff for their personal growth and professional development.

§ Review, for accuracy, the timesheets and monthly reports produced by the Project Administrative Coordinator.

· Grant Writing/Reporting and Budget oversight

§ Produce quarterly, bi-annual, and/or annual reports for various grants and projects.

§ Participate in grant writing to expand the BTH program.

§ Coordinate and participate in monitoring/auditing of various projects and grants.

§ Conduct basic accounting and fiscal management for the BTH program.

· Other duties as assigned to ensure the viability, expansion and sustainability of the BTH program.

Preferred Skill Sets

· Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders and to cultivate and maintain positive, mutually beneficial relationships.

· Understanding of the healthcare and social service systems, including processes for enrolling in public benefits and knowledge of resources and community-based organizations in Hillsborough County.

· Knowledge of nutrition concepts, health promotions, and health education.

Qualifications

· Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred) in Public Health, Nutrition/Dietetics, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.

· Minimum of five (5) years equivalent work experience

· Bi-Lingual Fluency (Spanish and English) written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Zoom, Sharepoint, Survey Monkey, Facebook, Youtube

· Management experience including team supervision.

· Proficiency in writing grant reports and developing work plans and budgets

· Experience with nonprofit or community-based organizations preferably working with low‐income individuals, families, and communities.

· Experience in grant writing and reporting.

· Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize, prioritize, and work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects.

· Ability to speak effectively to partner organizations, members of the general public, or employees of organization

· Ability to lift 25-pound boxes/items and transport them to various locations.

· Reliable transportation with a valid Florida driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

· Pass a level 2 background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
