The Program Manager is essential to the success of the participants in the Blackstone LaunchPad program. The position serves as a key liaison for initiatives supported by the Blackstone LaunchPad program at the Idea Center, which will include co-curricular and experiential learning preparation, advising and curriculum support, community building and assessment, as well as connecting students to resources that allow them to grow their ventures. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

This is a temporary grant funded position through August 31 year 2025 contingent upon grantor funding and grant extensions.

This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leverages and deepens relationships with the local business ecosystem and community to support student-led ventures and to advance our Entrepreneur-in-Residence mentoring program
  • Assists within the classroom to coordinate group activities and support faculty
  • Works with student entrepreneurs to connect them to external business support services as needed for specialty services and connect them with mentors to support the business creation and growth
  • Leads Idea Center training seminars, workshops and co-curricular experiential learning opportunities, with a particular focus on advising for business growth, peer learning
  • Attends all modules, workshops and program events to support participant learning
  • Develops content and a delivery approach of the curriculum to help student entrepreneurs apply a theoretical business concept to their student-led ventures
  • Participates in assessment of student entrepreneurs, curriculum sessions, and program through quantitative impact measurement tools, debriefing and review process
  • Leads bi-weekly coaching sessions to support student-led venture growth
  • Manages communication system with students across all campuses
  • Attracts and engages local program graduates to local alumni network to provide baseline and longitudinal business diagnostics
  • Advises student entrepreneurs individually to facilitate learning of classroom content and the creation of an effective, comprehensive business growth plan
  • Serves as a liaison with Blackstone Charitable Foundation and other Blackstone LaunchPad schools on joint programming initiatives
  • Assists in participant recruiting, reviews participant applications as part of the intake process, and reviews accepted participant data to understand participant’s individualized needs in the Blackstone LaunchPad programming
  • Draws upon alumni as ambassadors of the program, participants on panels and in workshops, and as referral sources for future students in support of ongoing recruitment and outreach efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of relevant combined experience in education or industry experience as a business owner or innovator; or Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of related experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience launching a venture, working in a start-up, or leading entrepreneurial projects within an organization
  • Knowledge of developing curricular and co-curricular practices and trends, rooted in theoretical frameworks
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Possess high personal and professional ethical standards
  • Ability to create an impact framework that effectively collects and presents data for reporting and evaluation purposes
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with industry and business leaders, and linking students to that community of potential supporters
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students from various backgrounds and experiences
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and achievement
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
