In the event that a canvass of the eligible list for Addictions Program Specialist 1 in this location results in less than three candidates willing to accept the position, the agency may consider making a provisional appointment. To be considered for provisional appointment, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
To qualify for provisional appointment, candidate must have a bachelor’s degree AND
Either 1. two years of professional clinical* or professional administrative experience** in a public or private agency/program which directly provides diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, or aftercare to a clientele with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency
Or 2. a master’s degree in community mental health, counseling, mental health counseling, education, human services, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, rehabilitation, social work, or sociology and one year of professional clinical* or professional administrative experience ** in a public or private agency/program which directly provides diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, or aftercare to a clientele with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency.
- Professional clinical experience for this examination is defined as the care, treatment, or instruction of patients in the disciplines of addictions counseling, mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, psychology, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, or as a physician’s assistant.
- Conduct annual site visits to housing providers and ensure visit findings are accurately documented in reports issued to providers.
- Assist with planning and conducting provider meetings.
- Participate in grant development and review of proposals for OASAS and other State agencies.
- Attend regional HUD/CoC meetings.
- Participate in the development and review of procurements that address the housing needs of homeless individuals and families.
- Assist in the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of new housing-related initiatives and activities.
- Assist in the ongoing development, refinement, and implementation of Housing Bureau policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development of manuals for providers regarding programs, including procedures, expectation, and required forms.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of internal systems to track the progress of housing projects and ensure compliance with federal HUD guidelines and OASAS regulations.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Represent the Bureau Director in meetings and workshops as requested.
Salary Range:
Grade 18: $61,270 - $77,912
Trainee 1: $46,529 - $59,542
Trainee 2: $49,202 - $62,806
(some appointees will serve a 2-year traineeship leading to a Grade 18)
