Camphill Communities of Ireland are currently seeking applications from highly motivated people to join our team for the following position:

Programme Facilitator - Garden/Land (35 hours/week)


JOB PURPOSE:


To manage and lead inclusive programmes at The Watergarden, training and social role opportunities for participants by supporting and working with people with support needs, volunteers employees, and wider community partners. To Provide enable and support meaningful work, training and personal development opportunities for people according to their ability, personal choice and vocational interests.

Contribute, report to and engage with the local management team as in terms of providing effective management oversight and safeguarding of people and operational management of the programmes and its activities.

To develop proposals for management that will support new opportunities and initiatives with potential to add value to the experience of day attendees. Such to include approaches to best practice around the principles of social inclusion for persons with a disability, social enterprise, employment and social role opportunities for participants /day attendees/ trainees.

Maintain regular oversight of the garden at The Watergarden and ensure that plants are maintained and well cared for.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Garden/Land Programme Facilitator will:


Management:

Understanding the values and ethos of Camphill Communities of Ireland and to behave always in a way that upholds those values.

To uphold, promote and apply all practices and reporting requirements associated with company and HSE / statutory requirements on Safeguarding and Protection of vulnerable adulty / children as appropriate to the setting.

To promote the safety and wellbeing of all members of the community while respecting and supporting their right to independent decision making.

To contribute to the establishing of polices, systems and practices so that the community provides the best standard of care and support and complies with legislation, polices and best practice within the context of Camphill’s ethos and values and can demonstrate the same.

To contribute with colleagues to the development and strategic vision of the community and associated activities and opportunities.

To take responsibility for challenging bad practice constructively where you encounter it, using formal procedures where necessary.

To take responsibility as appropriate, for directing and supervising the workload and practices of employees, coworkers and volunteers and support them with prioritising the same.

Building and maintaining relationships of trust and confidence with the adults with support needs, coworkers, employees and volunteers.

To assist in ensuring that suitable people are on hand at the required times to responsibly cover all activities and care support needs, through effective management of schedules and adequate planning of leave and training.

To liaise with and participate as part of the Management Group or other designated person or group as appropriate.

To have sound knowledge of the mission statement, values and purpose of Camphill Communities of Ireland.

To work in accordance with the policies and procedures laid down by the Camphill Communities of Ireland.

Adhere to HIQA Standards, New Directions Standards and other company standards within your work location.

Engage with inspections and audits carried out by the Company, HIQA/HSE

To engage in personal and professional development that will ensure the necessary skills and knowledge in meeting the changing needs of the position.


Main Tasks:

Planning the work of people with support needs, identifying the best activity and approach for each person, providing guidance, motivating, developing and directing people as they work.

To create a good working environment and a group dynamic that enables each worker to benefit from their time in the garden programme.

Making sure that people with support needs are constructively engaged, emotionally supported and sufficiently challenged and progressing as well as supported to work as independently as possible.

Act as a Key Worker for specific individuals.

In consultation with the individual take the lead in developing and implementing person centred plan for those individuals for whom you act as a key worker and ensure that the needs identified are appropriately addressed and participate in residents’ reviews as required.

Work in conjunction with individual plans and aims for each individual in the garden programme.

Assist people with support needs in their work wherever necessary and overseeing/supervising their tasks once they can work independently.

Be involved in reviews and support meetings in conjunction with Day Services Manager and other individuals supporting an individual.

Ensure that everyone in the programme knows where policies can be found and that all members of staff know who to bring issues of concerns to, who to report accidents /incidents or complaints to.

Ensure that the timetabling roster is adhered to and inform the relevant people of absences. Supervise punctuality and quality of work.

To notify the Management group or their nominated person of any behaviour that causes concern.

To attend the appropriate meetings as requested

Work under limited supervision, following standardised practices and/or methods, providing information, advising others and reporting to Management.

To negotiate holidays to minimise disruption to the smooth and safe running of the day services.

Lead, prepare and facilitate regular programmes in line with New Directions.

Maintain the programme diary on a daily basis.

Formulating garden programme plans for each year.

Address and maintain all garden and land management concerns - oversee maintenance of garden and land throughout the year


To maintain Health and Safety regulations within the programmes, compiling Risk Assessments on the use of equipment where necessary. To apply best practice safety in line with company policy and national best practice as advised by Health and Safety Authority

To ensure that all equipment used is safe, clean and in good working order.


To have ready the materials, resources and expertise required for the programme projects and activities.

To keep the area's you are responsible beautiful, pleasant, clean and tidy.

Organising and supervising tea breaks for the programmes.

To maintain all documentation required and associated with the programmes.

That appropriate risk assessments are carried out to ensure that any risks specific to supporting vulnerable adults in the programme are appropriately planned for and managed.

To ensure that visitors are managed in a planned and safe way when visiting or engaged in the activity of the programme.


QUALIFICATIONS:

A qualification at level 6 or above in social care or equivalent relevant qualification in health, education, or allied field.

Additional qualifications and/or experience in horticulture, garden, agriculture, or equivalent would be an advantage.

Candidates must possess the competencies and skills appropriate to working with persons with an intellectual disability.

Details of the Role:


Salary Scale: €31,200 to €36,840. PRO-RATA - Commencing on first point of the scale.

Contract: Permanent - Part time 35 hours
