Job Summary: Project Engineer Manager - Mid-West Region


Responsible for the HSE, direction, and cost management of assigned Capital and R&M projects requiring Engineering support. Lead and direct the efforts of the mechanical and electrical disciplines in support of the facility’s manufacturing systems, overseeing contractor activities for the assigned projects. This position will report directly to the Regional Engineering Manager of the Midwest and Canada Region.

Travel expectations are 50% to 70 % based on the project load.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the HSE requirements making sure the project is performed with the highest safety standard to secure the safety and health of the involved and affected workers and property.
  • Responsible for assigned engineering project activities, schedules, status updates, and budgets. This can best be accomplished by developing and requiring this from subordinates. The project manager will also lead and track the project GANT chart, and cost control sheet as well as coordinate the steering committee meetings for project governance.
  • Encourage the project team to accept more responsibility while developing their engineering and problem-solving skills in their areas of concentration.
  • Encourage cross-discipline training and project responsibility.
  • Identify needs for added engineering resources both from within and outside the company to satisfy project workload.
  • Apply Engineering creativity to solve operating and equipment problems by the safest, most efficient, effective, and economical means.
  • Perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of capital and R & M projects. Provide direction and support to the Engineer/Drafting Coordinator function.
  • Responsible to ensure that all governmental (OSHA & EPA) and company HSE policies are adhered to for all aspects of employees and their work.
  • Project managers need to follow procurement policies at all times while dealing with contractors and suppliers, always with a high awareness of the Hydro Code of Conduct expectations, integrity, and human rights.
  • Self-driven and motivated.


Required Education/Experience
:

  • A bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Engineering or equivalent
  • Five years minimum experience in project management and equipment installation. (Aluminum extrusion or metal mechanical industry preferred).
  • Broad knowledge of power system components, control systems, network communication, serial device communications, SCADA, supervisory control systems, drive, motion control and associated mechanical equipment, manufacturing processes, and quality.
  • OSHA & EPA requirements.
