The Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University (the Center) seeks to hire a Project Manager to support domestic and international grant programs. The first of its kind in the world, the Center aims to advance the field of public sector innovation by marrying cutting-edge practice with world class research in order to transform the culture of government, deliver exceptional results for residents, and inspire trust in public service.
Project Managers support the delivery of world-class programs that build the capacity of public servants to create better solutions for local communities. The Project Manager reports directly to a Practice Area Director and works with clients and partner teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for city leaders and government partners.
The Center is committed to working with communities that are focused on ending legacies of structural, entrenched racism and oppression. The Project Managers must be willing to think about reimagined government, knowledge, and engagement models through the lens of dismantling these legacies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Define and document project scope, objectives, and outcomes.
- Create long- and short-term plans for multi-year, multi-million-dollar innovation programs in multiple cities across the US. This includes setting project targets and milestones as well as partner deliverables and deadlines.
- Coordinate partner and client engagement in collaborative design and delivery.
- Provide project updates to internal and external stakeholders and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Maintain effective communication and feedback channels with executives, managers, and partners to keep the project aligned with goals.
- Prepare project status reports, risk management assessments, and other program lifecycle reports and documentation.
- Create briefings, presentations, and talking points about the program and cities, including spotlights on specific cities and their local initiatives for a variety of audiences, including but not limited to funder meetings and public speaking events.
- Regularly assess project execution and make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress.
- Manage collaborator coordination when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Assess client needs, identify the resource best positioned to meet them, and activate internal subject matter experts or external partners.
- Adjust schedules and targets as situations may require to ensure project goals are met.
- Promote synergies with teams across the Center to propose and develop sustainable and innovative solutions.
- Oversee or execute special projects, as needed.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of project management experience.
- Interest in city government and experience working in the public sector or adjacent industries.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $86,390.00 - $110,000.00 per year
