Job breakdown

Outreach is seeking a Full-time Psychiatrist to provide onsite services at two of our locations: our Substance abuse/Mental Health Clinic in Richmond Hill (1 day per week) and our Substance Abuse Integrated Clinic located in Brentwood (4 days per week).

What you will own

  • Diagnose, treat, and prevent mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders with the use of medication and psychotherapy. Assess, prescribe, and monitor psychotropic medications to address mental health concerns.
  • Assess, prescribe, and monitor clients on Medication Assisted Therapies for substance use disorders.
  • Appropriately interact with outpatient clinical staff and communicate information related to the diagnosis and care of clients including the effects of any medication on client functioning and participate in case conferences and other meetings, as appropriate.
  • Document all activities on agency forms and/or where applicable, within the agency's electronic health record.
  • Review, provide feedback and sign off on treatment plans, as requested.
  • Supervise medical staff on medical procedures and practices and provide appropriate health-related updates and training.
  • Provide on-call assistance regarding consultations related to client care.
  • Identify the current mental health needs of the client population and implement activities to address service and informational deficits.
  • · Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan and systems of accountability. Ensure communication through the compliance officer and/ or the supervisory structure of any violation of non-compliance with the agency's Medicaid compliance plan and personnel policies and procedures.

Non-negotiables

  • Board Certified; current NYS license required.
  • Medical degree from accredited medical school.
  • Must also have a buprenorphine waiver or be willing to obtain one within 2 months.
  • Current DEA registration
  • Must be approved for Medicaid/Medicare prior to providing services.
  • Must have professional liability insurance in the amount of 1M/3M.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a psychiatrist or PNP in a related treatment, therapeutic community, community residence, outpatient substance use disorder and/or mental health setting working directly with special populations.
  • Ability to focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental, emotional and behavior disorders.
  • Excellent clinical, operational, administrative, and technical support
  • Interpersonal Skills: must be able to establish rapport with clients and gain their trust
  • Communication Skills: excellent speaking and listening skills to work with clients and their families as well as other healthcare providers
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus
