Responsibilities:
Diagnoses and provides treatment for people with psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders and medical problems.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Leads the interdisciplinary team supporting PrairieCare’s treatment programs and philosophy
- Assures the delivery of quality treatment to adults, adolescents, children, psychiatric, and substance use disorder patients, and their families consistent with Medical Staff privileges granted
- Services may be in delivered in the hospital, partial hospital, intensive outpatient, outpatient or residential programs
- Be familiar with follow-up resource services available to adults, adolescents, and children
- Conducting individual and family therapy
- Licensed by the State of Minnesota to practice medicine. Must have successfully completed an accredited Postgraduate Training Residency. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Ablity to maintain required medical staff privileges and malpractice insurance
- Knowledgeable about adult, adolescent, and child psychiatric disorders, and advanced principles of abnormal psychology
- Ability to maintain information as highly confidential
- Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical record documentation
- Have computer skills using Microsoft Office products including Outlook
- Ability to access and use intranet site as necessary
- Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations
- Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
- After training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
