St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive services for people with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1968 the Foundation has grown through continuously responding to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The Foundation provides services to children and adults, through day services, residential, respite care, and home support in the North Cork and South West Limerick region. We have day and residential services in various locations in the North Cork and South Limerick area; such as Charleville, Dromina, Newtownshandrum, Buttevant, Newmarket, Mitchelstown and Mallow, in Limerick; Ballylanders, , Ballyagran, Bruree, Bruff Croom Dromcollogher, Granagh Kilmallock, and Liskennett.
St. Joseph’s Foundation is a lead agency in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare for the North West Cork and the North East Cork Children’s Disability Network Teams. These teams provide services from 0-18 under the National Progressing Disability Services Programme and are based in Mallow and Fermoy.

The ideal candidate must have:
- A third level qualification recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland, 1st or 2nd class honours with Psychology as a major subject and a post-graduate professional qualification in clinical, counselling or educational psychology.
- Candidates who qualified outside the Republic of Ireland must have their qualifications validated by the Department of Health & Children at the time of application
- Knowledge and expertise of working with adults with an Intellectual Disability and their families in a multidisciplinary team setting.

JOB TITLE: Staff Grade/ Senior Grade - Psychologist
**All applicants will be considered for both roles depending on experience. **
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: To the Principal Psychologist
LIAISE WITH: Manager of Adult Services, Multi-disciplinary Team members, Section Supervisors and Representatives of other Statutory & Voluntary Organisations
HOURLY COMMITMENT 35 hours per week with 30 minutes for lunch break (unpaid)
JOB GOAL: Provide psychological services to adults with learning disabilities and /or Autism Spectrum Disorders, their families and their carers.
Clinical Practice :
Professional Duties & Responsibilities:
To provide assessment reports to referring agents, the family and relevant professionals and the person with an Intellectual Disability.- To assess adults with challenging behaviour and design appropriate interventions
- To undertake relevant psychological intervention/therapies in relation to people with learning disabilities.
- To provide a psychological service to individuals with Mental Health issues in liaison with Psychiatry.
- To support parents and family members through the provision of counselling, advice and guidance as required.
- To provide personal counselling as well as group work for people with disabilities.
- To encourage family involvement in the development of the person with the disability and to participate in meetings to devise Person Centred Plans.
- To develop training packages for staff and families as required.
- To provide teaching/training to staff both formally and informally at workshops and seminars.
- To administer formal and informal assessment tools and instruments as appropriate to adults and to furnish reports to their parents and relevant personnel with due consideration to consent and confidentiality as laid down by professional body and HSE guidelines
- To participate, if required, in education programmes for the general public on the services.
- To establish and maintain working relationships with professional colleagues from other disciplines in the multi-disciplinary team.
- To maintain good relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- In collaboration with the Principal Psychologist to participate in the organisation and development of psychological services of St. Joseph’s Foundation.
- To maintain records and reports in line with Freedom of Information and Data Protection.
- To participate in the organisation and development of psychological services of the Foundation.
- To keep informed of developments within the profession and to promote their positive application.
- To be responsible for maintaining supervision and CPD requirements
- To participate in research programmes relevant to Disability Services.
- To adhere to all the Foundation's policies.
- To work in any of the centers run by the Foundation as directed by Principal Psychologist
Health & Safety
- Make oneself aware of the Foundation’s duties and the employee’s duties under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work legislation.
- To adhere to health & safety requirements within the Day Service Location
- To ensure all incidents/accidents/near misses are reported and documented using on-line reporting system
- Ensure that all faulty equipment is reported and repaired forthwith.
