The Elevator Pitch: Why will someone enjoy this new opportunity?
As the Public-Sector Capture Manager, you will have the opportunity to form and organize teams to assess, analyze, and develop a strategy to pursue opportunities. Sales and account leadership submit a request for pursuit and capture resources. Once assigned, you, your technical counterpart, and the Proposal Manager will assemble the team consisting of sales, account, technical and business unit managers and technologist. You will orient them to the opportunity, and manage the actions to pursue, capture and win opportunities. Although your primary focus will be in the federal space, you will have the opportunity to participate in state, local, and educational opportunities.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6 – 12 months that they will work toward completing?
While some opportunities that you will pursue have direct impact on revenue, others provide access to addressable markets, which provides a pathway to revenue and strategic growth. You will be assigned emerging opportunities, in which you will assemble teams, orient them, develop a strategy and tangible action items to achieve success. You can expect that some opportunities will be complete capture opportunities, others may be transactional. This mix of workload provides variety and enables you to work with some of the best minds in VMware.
The Work: What type of work will they be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will they be performing on a regular basis?
You will serve as the key focal point for all assigned opportunities. You will develop capture plans, bid strategies, teaming relationships, and intercompany communication plans. You will lead kickoffs, recurring meetings, teaming discussions, bid reviews, proposal reviews, scheduling, and post-award transition plans.
A deep understanding of federal acquisition, the Shipley capture phases, Bill of Materials (BOM) development, pricing, contracts, leadership, communication, organization, and confidence are key skills in this role. Applicant must have a minimum of 10 years experience in complex, solutions focused IT sales, engineering or capture experience in Public Sector (Software company preferred), with detailed knowledge of capture experience.

This role reports to Christopher Armstrong, Director, Public Sector Pursuit and Capture, who reports to Jennifer Chronis, VP for US Public Sector. Jennifer is passionate sponsor of our Public Sector customers and team members. This leadership team empowers its members, provides them the tools and resources, while allowing them to leverage their experiences, leadership capabilities and innovative thought leadership to achieve the desired business objectives.
Where is this role located?
This role is US based, serving customers and team members across the US. The role does not have a specific location or VMware office requirement. This job can be performed with a mix of remote and in person customer and team engagement outside VMware facilities if they are not local.
