Summary

The primary function for the Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator is to purchase required materials for Balcan USA Inc. in a cost-efficient manner. The second primary function is to set up, maintain, and track inventory for Balcan USA Inc.’s Pleasant Prairie plant location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary based on business needs.

Purchasing:

  • Execute purchasing for the site, source materials and foster vendor relationships;
  • Prepares, issues, and administers purchase orders and contracts;
  • Resolve good receipt processing issues;
  • Act as administrator for corporate purchasing credit card and maintain accurate records;
  • Develops and issues requests for proposals and quotations based on requirements;
  • Evaluates supplier proposals for best value, price, delivery, and other factors;
  • Participates in supplier negotiations;
  • Inputs and maintains data in pertinent databases;
  • Leads or participates in efforts to solve problems involving lead-time, quantities, quality and other purchasing issues impacting production;
  • Manage Vendor Claims and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR’s) for all substrate and Pleasant Prairie MRO and SG&A suppliers;
  • Complete as needed standard reports to ensure the orderly flow of material, purchase order adjustments and other reports as necessary to ensure proper operations in the Pleasant Prairie facility;
  • In cooperation with scheduling, effectively manage raw and WIP inventory levels against facility working capital targets.

Inventory:

  • Conduct inventory and cycle counting processing in line with plant schedule;
  • Ensure all operators are trained on a process that is amenable to the quality department for raw material reject processes;
  • Develop and implement systems for accurately managing inventory;
  • Ensure seamless movement of products and inventory;
  • Maintain records regarding inventory control, intake and sales;
  • Report to upper management regularly and provides recommendations for better inventory control;
  • Assists in inventory deliveries and shipment of inventory as required;
  • Inventory counts and adjustments using Epicor and Excel spreadsheets;
  • Work with receiving to determine how to organize and load empty totes;
  • Work with purchasing and carrier vendors to schedule trucks;
  • Maintain future storerooms;

Education and /or Experience

  • Four-year business, purchasing or engineering related college degree, preferred
  • 1-3 years relevant purchasing experience in a commercial manufacturing environment; additional training in purchasing desired
  • 1-3 years relevant inventory management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of supply chain inventory management principles and concepts
  • Exposure to negotiating and supplier relationship management
  • CPSM, CPM, or APIC certification a plus
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook including data driven analysis, pivot tables, spreadsheets and formal written business communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Epicor experience highly preferred

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
