Responsible for promoting, coordinating and performing quality improvement activities.
Safety
- Manages processes effectively in regards to employee/patient safety.
Record Keeping
- Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required, including but not limited to payroll, schedules and status changes.
Department Management
- Maintains 24 hour accountability for department, making independent decisions to implement strategies and programs for patient focus.
- Delegates authority and accountability to staff to ensure optimal outcomes and staff engagement.
- Evaluates effectiveness of unit/department based programs and processes to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Performs interim/annual employee performance evaluations.
- Responsible for department fiscal budget(s).
- Manage day-to-day department operations of Quality Department.
Process Improvement
- Promotes a culture of process improvement by establishing unit/department-based programs that support the system’s process improvement goals, and make referrals to Continuous Improvement department as appropriate
- Participate in facility GEMBA walks.
Staffing
- Manages the unit/department effectively in regards to staffing and staff supervision for Peer Review Coordinator(s), QI Reviewers, and clerical staff.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for facilitation and organization of facility PDOC (Practitioner Development and Oversight Committee).
- Oversight of facility PRC (Peer Review Committee).
- Actively participates on hospital-based teams and system-based teams as appropriate.
- Participates in facility specific medical staff meetings including Medical Executive Committee(s), Surgical Leadership Committee, and other ad hoc meetings as required.
- Participate in facility specific hospital management responsibilities including management huddle, safety huddles, and management retreats.
- Directly responsible for timely and accurate submission of regulatory measures (Core Measures, Structural Measures, and eCQM’s).
- Facilitates and coordinates the organization, development, and evaluation of hospital-wide quality improvement plan(s).
- Provide support in preparing quality award application, assisting in the evaluation of feedback reports, identifying priorities for improvement and facilitating action to enhance organizational performance.
- Serves as a resource to physicians, senior leaders, managers and staff members in developing criteria and methodology to be utilized in Quality Improvement Program.
- Demonstrates appropriate application of statistical tools.
- Extracts and quantifies clinical information from comparative databasesand effective resource utilization and provides this information to Administrative and Medical Staff for reporting, tracking, and trending.

- Serve as a resource to the department directors and medical staff committees and others in the development and implementation of improvement efforts.
- Provide guidance to staff and physicians related to regulatory agencies such as TJC (The Joint Commission), CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), and IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health).
- Assists System Accreditation Manager with coordination and facilitation of regulatory surveys, including creation and submission of action plans.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Current Illinois RN License if applicable
- Technical Experience: 5 years in healthcare related field
- Supervisory Experience: 1 year
