Job Summary: Responsible for inspecting cabinets and their components to ensure all production meets product design, quality specifications, and standards in order to meet customer expectations. Uses independent judgment and discretion in making determinations of acceptance or rejection and follow up corrections. Involved in training and counseling employees to produce quality work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote an awareness of quality standards throughout all manufacturing areas.
  • Teach, advise, and instruct production and inspection personnel on quality standards.
  • Inspect for quality defects against known standards and specs.
  • Inspect for undefined or unknown quality defects.
  • Investigate quality defects, determine cause, and work with Team Leaders and operators to correct problems.
  • Track product defects for statistical control purposes.
  • Authority to halt production in the case of serious quality defects (requires independent judgment).
  • Assist in establishing quality standards, inspections methodology, and inspection procedures for maintaining high standards of product quality.
  • All other duties as delegated by Supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must know product standards and specifications.
  • Must have minimum high school diploma.
  • Ability to use technology instruments (i.e. palm pilot, scanner, etc.).
  • Proficiency with the tape measure.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.
  • Must be able to handle stress and withstand pressure.
  • Leadership experience or ability.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to role model All-Star values.
  • Knowledge of cabinetry and/or wood products.
