Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks an NDT Quality Assurance Inspector A to join our operations team in our Jupiter, FL location. This position requires non-destructive testing techniques and methods to ensure propulsion components meet quality control standards.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
100% - Working with planning, engineering and supporting departments, provide technical guidance to interpret and implement nondestructive test requirements of developmental and production programs. Plan, coordinate and perform setups and inspections. Coordinate the training activities of other inspectors. Maintain appropriate Level II/III certification including required reliability demonstrations.

Review and check complex procedures, drawings, work instructions and specifications to detect errors and interface with planning and/or engineering to recommend changes or revisions to improve efficiencies and methods. Identify nondestructive equipment design improvements. Work from written and verbal instructions, drawings, quality assurance data sheets, inspection methods and standards, nondestructive test specifications, general operating method and instructions from nondestructive test engineer to plan, setup, calibrate and perform capability checks and inspections on complex hardware. Use various precision measurement and optical equipment as required to determine acceptability and/or to describe defect size and location.

Clean and otherwise process parts for NDT inspection processes. Select or devise appropriate holding devices and make recommendations for the modification of fixtures and tools to accommodate new, unusual, or irregularly shaped parts.

Prepare detailed reports for inspections performed showing defect(s) revealed by the test as applicable. For all tests, accept or reject material based on interpretation of applicable standards. Fill out quality review orders or inspection discrepancy and correction records and mark parts, scope, or chart to show indications of defects revealed and to process unacceptable parts per procedures. Determine root cause(s) and work with others to establish effective corrective action to resolve. Responsible for entering pertinent information into all computer systems using the Point of Origin Material Review Board Procedures to ensure historical information is properly maintained. Complete and stamp all required documentation to acknowledge accepted/rejected hardware.

Clean parts requiring minor cleaning after inspection using conventional means.

Ensure the movement of parts is tracked through applicable systems and carry small parts to their next location or contact inside transportation for the movement of large parts.

Assure equipment is maintained properly, that supply inventories are adequate and notify Procurement to initiate purchase orders when required.

Perform over-inspections and audits as required to ensure flow of material through manufacturing process.

Comply with environmental health and safety regulations and program requirements to ensure safe working conditions and to preserve a healthy environment.

Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level as required.
Required Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires completion of a 2-3 Technical Certification or Trade School or equivalent.
- NAS410 Level II Certification in UT (Ultrasonic Testing), PT (Penetrant Testing), VT (Visual Inspection, and/or RT (Radiographic Testing).
- Requires well rounded knowledge of nondestructive test practices, procedures, and applications, and dimensional inspection methods.
- Requires ability to make applicable calculations according to established formulas and work from specifications and inspection standards and methods sheets.
- Requires basic knowledge of alloy type and material defect characteristics.
- Requires basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through manufacturing and quality systems.
- Experience and additional certification requirements will depend on the level filled.
Desired Qualifications
- NDT inspection experience on hardware with brazing, casting, welding, forging material conditions.
- Prior experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus.
- Level III Certification in digital radiography
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel.
The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Possible exposure to x-rays.
Intermittent exposure to oil, alkali and acid solutions when processing, handling and inspecting parts.
Exposure to occasional noise when working in test areas.
Use of personal protective equipment is required.
