About Midleton Distillery
Our Midleton Distillery is a complex production environment located on a 65-hectare site. Every drop of the Irish Distillers portfolio, which includes brands such as Jameson, Powers, Midleton Very Rare, the Spot range, Redbreast and Method & Madness are distilled and matured in Midleton. Our Distillery equipment includes fermenters, distillation pots, distillation columns, boilers, pumps, valves and instruments along with an automation control system.
Whiskey from Midleton is transported to Fox and Geese bottling plant in Dublin where it is bottled, packaged and distributed in a world class manufacturing environment, before being exported to over 130 markets around the world. Since 2012, Irish Distillers has invested almost €400m to double production at Midleton Distillery and bottling capacity at Fox and Geese in Dublin to meet global demand for our products

The Irish Distillers Internship will allow you network with and learn from our world class team who are on hand to help you understand and apply the theory you learn in college to our real-life production environment.
What’s involved?
Our 2023 Intern will work within our Laboratory team. The main activities you will get involved in will include;
  • Conducting laboratory analysis according to laboratory procedures and in accordance with Quality standards
  • Writing test reports and trending of data where required
  • Identifying and communication of incidents and non-conformances when laboratory analysis results and site procedures are not met
  • Ensuring a high level of housekeeping and hygiene is maintained
  • Write, review and update laboratory procedures and records in accordance with ISO standards
  • Research and implementation of new / improved laboratory equipment and test methods
  • Participating in process improvement projects and reporting of results
  • Implementation of continuous improvement in the laboratory
What we’re looking for
  • Currently pursuing the Food Science or Nutritional Sciences degree
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO22000 and ISO14001
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Self-sufficient and innovative
  • Good teamwork and ability to develop interpersonal relationships
  • Good communication techniques

Working hours: 08:00 to 4:30 Monday to Thursday and 8:00 to 3:30 on Friday.
Flexibility in working hours is required as this role may occasionally require working weekends and hours outside of normal working hours when required.
