OCLC has a dedicated team of Quality Assurance (QA) professionals who are passionate with building quality products and services in the right way. The QA team works daily to understand our customer's needs, and then uses that understanding to ensure that all deliveries not only exceed our customers' expectations, but also meet our own high standards of software quality and exceptional user-experience.
At OCLC, QA is involved in the entire project process: monitoring and improving the process, making sure that any agreed-upon standards and procedures are followed, and ensuring that problems are found and dealt with. It’s all oriented to PREVENTION!
The QA Manager will oversee a team responsible for performing test analysis, software design and development of automation infrastructure that supports OCLC development and quality goals. This role includes operational oversight, personnel management, and strategy definition that brings visibility into software quality and improves confidence in product releases. The QA Manager will bring a quality mindset of “continuous improvement” by collaborating across disciplines to Increases OCLC’s product/application test coverage and decrease software testing durations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Report on Test Execution including Functional, Smoke, Regression, Performance and Acceptance Testing results, analyses test failures including root cause analysis and raise issues where appropriate.
- Review QA personnel performance and progress, provide regular feedback, and identify personal growth and development plans.
- Advocate for and oversee automation test framework/suites development and maintenance within OCLC.
- Seek ways to improve testing efforts from current and future projects to reduce time and cost without loss in quality.
- Maintain and improve QA project estimation, project planning, staffing, and monitoring the testing activities of key OCLC initiatives.
- Propose/implement improvements in testing processes resulting in reduced risk and improved efficiency by analyzing quality issues and helping to set teams goals based on metric analysis.
- Design software Performance strategies to help Product Owners and teams measure, and improve speed, stability, and scalability.
- Assist with and coordinate scoping and estimation activities for QA testing activities and product releases.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and testing techniques, including functional, non-functional, system integration, install verification, and testing across phases of a project.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Library related discipline or 5+ years or equivalent Software or Development work experience.
- Strong technical, management and project management skills.
- Excellent Communicator both written and oral, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experienced in leading testing teams for large complex projects.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum processes and experience participating in an Agile team.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products including Word and Excel or non-Microsoft equivalents.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively with Senior Level Business leaders as well as Software Developers and testers.
- Experience with Performance Testing Tools (e.g., JMETER, BlazeMeter, WebPerformance, WebLoad, etc.)
- CI/CD tools - Knowledge of orchestration tools is a plus.
- Working knowledge about AWS services and products.
- Continued education in testing or QA certification.
- 3+ years’ experience creating automation toolsets/frameworks using Ruby/Cucumber, Java/Cucumber, or similar framework.
